If the Williamsport Crosscutters were scripting their usual win, they would more than likely have waited until the seventh or eighth inning to make their big move as they have done so many times this season.
However, Friday night the Cutters struck early and often as they defeated the Brooklyn Cyclones, 9-4, before 1,547 fans at Bowman Field.
“There are a number of factors that figured in on this win,” said Cutter manager Chris Truby. “It was a well-played all around for us and we took advantage of some mistakes they made and we swung the bats well.”

They did it again.
Known for their late-in-the-game heroics, the Williamsport Crosscutters broke a 2-all deadlock with a run in the eighth inning Friday night as they downed the Lowell Spinners, 3-2, before 1,802 fans at Bowman Field.
With the win, the Cutters complete the three-game sweep over the Spinners.
Normally, the Cutters have been doing “their thing” in the seventh inning, but when that frame passed by, Williamsport manager Chris Truby knew he and his troops still had two innings to get the job done.
“We still had the eighth and ninth innings,” said a smiling Truby following the game. “

The approach of the 2010 edition of the Williamsport Crosscutter baseball team to winning a ball game has been a simple one. Hope you stay close enough until the seventh inning rolls around and then let things fly.
Thursday night at Bowman Field, it was a relaxation night promo and for the first few innings, the game was played as the theme would indicate.
However, putting the first few lackluster innings behind them, the Cutters scored four runs in the seventh inning to break a 3-all deadlock as they defeated the Lowell Spinners, 7-3, before 1,471 fans.

If the Williamsport Crosscutters are within striking range down the stretch, you had better buckle up your seat belts because they can be and have been dangerous thus far in the 2010 season.
Trailing the Lowell Spinners by a pair (5-3), the Cutters erupted for three big runs in the seventh to post a come-from-behind 6-5 win over the Spinners before 1,754 fans at Bowman Field Wednesday night.
“We gave up a run in the seventh, but then (Jeff) Lanning came through with the big hit to put us ahead,’” said Williamsport manager Chris Truby. “It gives me gray hair, but the guys just seem to get things going in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings. They play hard and they play to win. They have a good attitude and they never feel like we are out of any game.”

You play nine innings in a baseball game, but sometimes it only takes one to decide the issue.
That was the case Tuesday night as the Auburn Doubledays scored eight times in the sixth inning en route to a 9-3 win over the Williamsport Crosscutters before 1,541 fans at Bowman Field.
“I don’t know if you are bound to give up eight (runs in an inning), but you are bound to have days like this one,” said Williamsport manager Chris Truby. “You are bound to have days when things don’t go your way. We don’t make the play on a bunt which really opened the flood gates a little bit. A couple of walks here, a hit batter there and after that, they swung the bats.”

SLIPPERY ROCK -- The calendar just turned to August and there is still a lot of baseball to be played, but don’t look back because football season is just around the corner.
Monday afternoon at Slippery Rock University, the season began for the PSAC as the western division held its annual football kickoff luncheon and as you might expect, there were no surprises to be found.
One of the highlights of the luncheon is the announcement of the pre-season rankings of the eight teams.
